tuesday pimp #4: matthew reidsma

Today I am pimping Matthew Reidsma, aka
reidsrow!

Reidsma is a cartoonist I only discovered lately, but I really like his stuff. He does a daily journal comic called High Maintenance Machine (double points for the Mountain Goats reference) which I really look forward to. It reminds me a little of James Kochalka's American Elf, in that it celebrates the little moments in life, yet avoids being meaninglessness, repetitive or boring.

I love Reidsma's simple, even stark style, his bold use of black and white, and his sensitivity to the little moments in life which his readers will laugh at or relate to. He is also working on an autobiographical comic about his childhood called Happy Child, and recently made a 24-hour comic entitled Skippy and the Magic Tricycle. It is about some animals and a robot who work in a library, so you know it's good. All of these comics are also available in print, extremely cheap. You can't afford not to buy them, at these prices!

So go friend him, read his archives at http://www.webcomicsnation.com/reid srow , and buy his minis! You'll be glad you did!
Tune in next Tuesday for another amazing... TUESDAY PIMP!
